PARLAY PAT
Parlay Pat (@ParlayPatLT) ranks every position in the NFL–except, every single player must be 25 years old or younger. Today, he looks at the wide receivers.
The wide receiver spot is the first example of a simple adage: “Most positions are young, some positions are old.”
That’s an old saying by a guy named Pat.
This is a young position.

5. Amon-Ra St. Brown
2022-23: 106 receptions, 1161 receiving yards, 6 touchdowns, 16 GP
Amon-Ra St. Brown has been pivotal in the revival of both the Lions’ league status and Jared Goff’s career.
St. Brown is great at moving the sticks and has shown that he can fit nicely into the motion, gadget, misdirection aspect of their offense as well.
He can do a little bit of everything, and he does it with some of the most consistent hands in the league.
On top of all that, he is locked in as a First Team All-Name receiver for the foreseeable future.
As long as the Lions can continue this rebirth and Dan Campbell can keep biting knee caps, Amon-Ra St. Brown is positioned to make a big jump this season.
4. Jaylen Waddle
2022-23: 75 receptions, 1356 receiving yards, 8 touchdowns, 17 GP
Jaylen Waddle could be the league’s real next Tyreek Hill.
That being said, I don’t know if he can do that in an offense with Tyreek Hill.
And quarterbacked by Tua Tagovailoa.
Speed, routes, after the catch ability, sense of space, waddle, waddle–it’s all there.
The fact that he put up the numbers he did while being the clear No. 2 option and missing big play opportunities due to underthrows speaks to how talented this man is and how dominant he could be in the right situation.
We will see if the target share swings this year as Waddle continues to develop and Hill’s age starts to show, but if not, don’t be surprised to see Waddle request a trade or Tua getting shipped (this is a certified Parlay Pat Hot Take).
tl;dr: This guy is fast.

3. CeeDee Lamb
2022-23: 107 receptions, 1356 yards, 9 touchdowns, 17 GP
I had some questions about whether or not CeeDee Lamb was ready to take over the number one spot in Dallas after the Cowboys traded away Amari Cooper for a Gatorade cooler. Lamb answered them.
Whether it was with Dak Prescott or his handful of games with Cooper Rush, CeeDee was a certified weapon.
While I think he still has some room to grow as a route runner, his after the catch ability on screens and short game is at the top of the league and his deep ball skills are short behind that.
This Cowboys offense was frustrating to watch while they tried to find their new identity–stepping away from the Feed Zeke philosophy–but CeeDee never failed to do something to make me say, “wow that was cool.”
2. Ja’Marr Chase
2022-23: 87 receptions, 1046 receiving yards, 9 touchdowns, 12 GP
As a devoted Steelers fan, I deeply and passionately hate Ja’Marr Chase.
As a fan of throwing and catching footballs, holy hell, this guy is good.
I don’t need to tell anyone about the connection between him and Joe Burrow, so I won’t.
I don’t need to tell anyone about how hard it is to cover Chase while also covering Higgins and Boyd, so I won’t.
I don’t need to tell anyone about his routes and his ability as a deep threat and his run after the catch skills, so I won’t.
What I do need to tell you is this guy only played in 12 games last season, broke 1,000 yards, and never once was questioned if he should remain the number one in a very talented receiving room.
Honorable mentions: Tee Higgins, DK Metcalf, George Pickens, Garrett Wilson, Christian Watson

1. Justin Jefferson
2022-23: 128 receptions, 1809 receiving yards, 8 touchdowns, 17 GP
Justin Jefferson was the best receiver in football this past season.
He had the most yards and catches in the league.
Pairing him with Jordan Addison this year is going to make it very difficult for teams to comfortably double and triple cover him for most of the game like they’ve gotten used to.
Whether he is taking ankles on his routes or blowing by defenders on deep balls, he’s a nightmare to cover and nearly impossible to cover one-on-one.
He’s doing it, and he’s making it look good. Doing both of those things with Captain Kirk at the reins is not as easy as he makes it look.
